Sian Sutherland interesting guest Nate. If there’s anything gets me riled it’s that with all our knowledge we (humanity) treat FINITE Flammable Fossils (Coal, Oil and Gas) as though they were created by an infinite ADIABATIC process instead of treating them as we should as FINITE, Really! precious resources to be used sparingly, whilst and until we seek alternative sustainable energy resources. And the other is ‘OIL BASED PLASTIC’ for all the reasons and some that Sian Sutherland gave. Was surprised though that you said you we’re getting a tight feeling in your stomach from what she was describing, and that it had been a great eye opener and you’d learnt some things, I didn’t realise you were as naive as this Nate. There’s a person who I believe out shines Sian Sutherland, who’s been enlightening people for decades, written a book, made documentaries, Wikipedia pages, a Youtube site propagating the problem with OIL BASED PLASTIC. Who is this person it’s Annie Leonard the originator of ‘The Story of Stuff Project’, what’s more Nate she’s listed as co-executive director of Greenpeace USA, but first check out her video “The Story of Stuff” on YouTube. If there is anyone who deserves to be on your Reality Round Table it’s Annie Leonard, I’m sure she’s approachable and would certainly complement Sian Sutherland🤔
I really enjoyed this edition of the podcast. She does a great job of presenting real, plausible solutions rather than getting bogged down in blame and collapse-focus.
IMO this podcast has the potential for introducing many folks, who haven’t experienced the intricacies of several of the externalities the planet has suffered, will be able to relate to the externalities of the plastics industries; and, hopefully, will be stimulated to be activists in whatever way they can to contribute to reducing the level of externalities we collectively currently experience. Thanks!
