Oh, how much I've been anticipating and hoping for such a factual, science based discussion of the growing crescendo of challenges we face today and in the onrushing future. Thank you, Nate.

Hey Nate,

Thx for attempting to keep my brain n gear (relatively) by your dedicated work/inspiring perspective. But I am daunted by podcast proliferation. i (usually) can read faster than speak. I can't even keep up with Brian Czech's weekly podcasts. I'm not asking for transcripts, but I anticipate potential overload absorbing all of this great new stuff.

I stumbled on one of Nate's Earth Day talks back in 2015, any of which I would recommend and which got me thinking in a totally different way. It's worth your time to look at Living in the Future's Past (video), the Human Predicament course Reality101-UMN Nexus One (channel on YouTube) and others. But more immediate is The Great Simplification. My mission is to make this more widespread than a Justin Bieber music video.

After watching the Berman presentation, the next step is missing, the use of nuclear energy, particularly the new lever iv small modular reactors which have the capacity to provide process heat that can replace fossil fuels. Thoughts on the implications?

Thanks Nate - always look forward to your discussions and insights. Here's a problem I have though with one of your guests: Richard Gephardt has been a shill for the coal industry for a very long time. VERY. https://publicintegrity.org/environment/the-climate-lobbyists/ He has ZERO interest in the "public's interest," that is my conclusion after many years of following his career. Ugh. Mr. "Clean Coal" is what he will be remembered for -- not good!

Uh, he's a little late. Seriously, he couldn't figure out that coal was the biggest problem? He helped to perpetuate this terrible situation. I remember meeting him once, when I worked for Mo Udall (US Rep from AZ for ~30 years), and he was part of the money-industrial-ego complex that our US Congress runs on. I am sorry, but his mea culpas are too little, too late. Lots of blah blah blah. He took money from Peabody Coal, which should have been criminally charged for what they've done. The lies and corruption from that company -- are epic. Ask folks from the Navajo Nation who were sold out by folks like Gephardt for many decades. https://navajotimes.com/news/2011/0811/082911peabody2.php There are many people who can speak eloquently about coal, who have never taken (not "earned") obnoxious sums of money from obnoxious companies doing obnoxious things.
